Exiting through the sliding door, we discover a bronze polka-dotted pumpkin sculpture by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Kusama is receiving the attention she rightfully deserves in the art world. Including her artwork in this collection is an opportunity to consider how each artist ‘sees their world’. For Kusama, it is a world filled with dots, literally.

KAWS takes up a giant footprint with his ‘At this time’ companion sculpture rendered in wood. This figure welcomes guests arriving by boat and is a fan of children climbing onto its shoes. It is also a vulnerable artwork, of course, exposed to the elements. This tells us that the collectors are risk-takers. They certainly know what they love. And we have no barriers to giving this loveable companion a hug.

Please take a short walk down the path toward the marina bar. Here you will find a large-scale commissioned installation by Julian Opie. His recognizable larger-than-life figures are defined by thick outlines, heads bowed down toward handheld devices. Easily visible from a passing vessel, the figures appear to hover. Up close, this work in bronze is developing a beautiful patina set in British limestone.
