Checking in to the hotel, guests are welcomed by the ‘Reigning Queen’ series by Andy Warhol, which pays homage to the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth. Here Warhol appropriates the regal photograph for the monarch’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. This artwork placement may remind guests that they are visiting one of the last remaining British Overseas Territories. Again, as the collectors have been able to secure the lot, we are able to appreciate Warhol’s experimentation with colour and layers. Which one do you prefer and why?

Andy Warhol Spotlight

To the left of the Queens, we have BANKSY appropriating Andy Warhol’s famous Campell’s soup can with a Tesco purple soup can which is also a silkscreen– a direct echo of one object and technique to the other achieving the same light-hearted effect.

Very differently, TeamLab has created a panel to dream on. Entitled ‘Flowers and People’, this digital algorithm senses our presence and activates to create an explosion of flowers non-stop, always evolving. With our presence, the panels become an extension of our breath, beckoning us to pause and enjoy the digital experience. Please take some time to enjoy.
